Fall 2010 New Tenant Information

We are excited to meet you all and have you stay with us for the upcoming semester. We love Nauvoo House and enjoy having you here. Please feel free to come and let us know how your semester is going as well as any problems or issues that arise. We are here to help!!
CHECK IN:
Check ins will be Monday & Tuesday, September 6th & 7th from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. If you are arriving on late on Monday or Tuesday night your key will be available in an Envelope, with your name on it, by the office door.
You will receive your final apartment assignment on the day you check in. Unfortunately sometimes things change and you may not be in the apartment that you are expecting. We do our best to fulfill every one’s requests, but sometimes we simply cannot fulfill ALL requests. Please speak to a manager if you are concerned.
SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING:
Our apartments are considered “furnished”, however there are some items that we do not furnish and that you will likely need to make your stay here more comfortable. The following is a suggested list of items that you will likely need.
- Linens, blankets, pillow, mattress pad for your bed (Women twin-XL sheets, men twin regular)
- Microwave safe dishes, pots pans and other cookware you will need
- Utensils for cooking and eating
- Small appliances such as toasters or can openers
- Dish clothes, washcloths, towels, hot pads, etc.
- Garbage cans for kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom
- Cleaning supplies (Click for the Recommended List)
- Shower Curtain
- First Aid Supplies
- Personal Toiletries
- Iron (Ironing board is provided)
- Laundry Basket
- High Efficiency Laundry Soap
- Alarm Clock
- Ethernet Cord (The BYU-I Bookstore sells these for $5.00 for 15 feet. Cheapest around here!!)
RESIDENT PORTAL:
Your resident portal will be of use to you throughout the semester. This is how you can set it up. Go to Nauvoohouse.comYou will net to set it up if you are a new Nauvoo House Resident. Please note: Use the email address you used when you submitted your application. When you get in, you will be able to make payments, submit a maintenance request, change your personal information, etc. Please make sure your personal information is correct and that you have your preferred email address. Many email addresses are to family addresses, but we need personal ones so we may contact you personally. If you need help logging on, please let us know!
OTHER ITEMS OF NOTE:
- Please know that you are not allowed to have bikes inside the apartment. We have plenty of bike racks to lock them up. (The tires are not made for carpet and can ruin it)
- The use of nails, screws, tacks or double stick tape on your walls or anywhere else in the apartment is prohibited. All holes will be charged $5.00 per hole! Please find other ways to decorate!
- Many of the things needed could be shared between roommates. We suggest splitting the cost for shared items and picking them up when you get here.
- Rent is due upon arrival. If you need to make a payment plan, please speak with a manager.

Mother’s Week Breakfast
Thanks to all who came and enjoyed pancakes with their moms! We had a fun morning and it was nice to meet your moms.
The first Nauvoo House Iron Chef competition will be held June 18th. The contestants will meet in the lounge at 5:00 pm and get their secret ingredient. They will then have 2 hours to make/cook/bake their dish. At 7pm wil will meet up at the top of the complex (on the womens side) to judge these tasty creations! (If the weather does not cooperate, we will meet in the lounge.) Please come and enjoy treats and vote for your favorite dish. If you still want to sign up click HERE. The winner wins $100.00!
Remodeling!!!
While enjoying the tasty treats of the Iron Chef competition, please stop by apartment 116. We will be holding an open house to show you all what the new apartment will look like. We have been busy painting, and putting in new carpet and linoleum. We are excited to show them to you!
Reminders:
*Please submit maintenance requests through your resident portal. If you do not know how to do this, we will show you.
*If the grill runs out of propane while you are using it or you notice it is empty, please let us know. We will get them refilled as soon as we know about it!
*Quiet hours are from 10:00pm to 8:00am. Please be courteous of those trying to sleep or study. That includes loud music!!
*We still have winter deposits that need to be picked up!!
Fall Semester
Fall semester is coming up fast.
We are full for womens for fall. We have emailed contracts. If you did not get one please come in a speak with us. We also want to remind you that La Jolla is accepting our tenants with the current tenant discount and your deposit from NH will transfer to La Jolla. No money is due to transfer to La Jolla. The awesome manger, Tammy, is ready to help with this smooth transition. Click HERE to go to the La Jolla website. Or call 359-1985 to speak with her.
We still have space for men available. Submit an application with your name and roommate preferences. Your deposit will roll over, so NO money is due now. We will email you a contract and you sign it and bring it back. It’s that easy!!!
For both men and women, sign up before June 30th and get $50.00 off your rent. ($1099) After June 30th your price will go back to normal!! ($1149)
Ward Boundaries for Fall
We know that with the switch, many of you are concerned about the ward boundaries. We have contacted the housing office and they are working on it. We do not have any more information than that. As soon as we know something, we will let you know.

Welcome Spring!! (Finally)
We wish a warm welcome to our new manager Shannon and her family. She has come to us from Hawaii!! She has three beautiful children and a loving husband who is still in Hawaii. We are excited to have her here, and hope you will welcome her as well.

Our office hours are changing for this semester. SueAnn’s office (downstairs) will be open from 9-11am. Shannon’s office (upstairs) will be open from 2-4 pm. We will answer the phone throughout the day, but our office will remain closed during our off hours. If you cannot come during those times, please call and we can meet with you at a different time. Saturday the office will be by appointment only.
If you would like to sign up for fall, please fill out an online application. Your deposit will roll your over, so we will not collect it again. We do however need to know you are coming back. On the online application, in the roommate preference box, tell us you are a returning tenant and we will get you the contract. Sign up before June 30th and you get 50.00 off your rent!
We have added a request form to the bottom of this blog. If you would like to reserve the clubhouse or grills, please fill that form out and we will put you on the calendar. The calendar shows when the clubhouse and grill are reserved, and other important dates. Please refer to it often!
We still have deposits to be picked up!!
We also are still looking for young men to help with some of the projects Arden will be doing this summer. If you are interested click HERE!
For those of you staying for Memorial Day, we are going to have a fun Memorial Day pot luck. On Monday, May 25th come and enjoy some fun and games with us! Nauvoo House will provide the chips and drinks. Please provide your own meat, a dish to pass, and your own plate, cup, and silverware. (If you cannot bring a dish to pass, come anyway!!!) We will have the volleyball court, basketball court and other fun games. We will begin at 5:30 pm. See Manager for details or more information. Click HERE if you are coming!
Mother’s week is coming up and we are excited to meet all your moms! Please remember that mothers may only stay with their daughters. Guys let us know if you need help finding accommodation’s for your moms! We are also excited to invite you all to a pancake bar breakfast on Saturday, May 30th. Please bring your moms!! We will be serving pancakes with various toppings, milk, and juice. To keep our costs down and to be able to offer this more often, please bring your own plates, silverware, and cups. For us to get an idea of how many to plan for click HERE!
We have set a date for the Nauvoo House Iron Chef Competition. It will be Thursday, June 18th. Please sign up as apartments. (3 or more) If you want to sign up, click HERE. We will get more details to those interested and let you all know when to come and enjoy the food!! Deadline for signing up is June 10th!

We welcome you to Nauvoo House for the Spring 2009 Semester! We are excited to have you and look forward to getting to know each of you.
Here are a few items we want you to know.
McKenzie is the morning manager. Her office is located in the clubhouse, upstair. She works from 9-1. SueAnn is the afternoon manager. Her office is located in the building behind the clubhouse. SueAnn works for 1-5. We are also open from 9-12 on Saturdays. We switch every other Saturday, so if one office is closed, try the other one.
***Please be respectful of our off hours. Unless it is an EMERGENCY please only come during office hours. ***
Maintenance:
You can go online to report maintenance. Go to Nauvoohouse.com and click Resident Portal. You must sign up and then fill out info. It will then email you a password. Use that password to get in and then you will be able to change your password. You can also make payments there as well as find out how much you owe or ask us questions. Fun Stuff, Check it out!!!
General Information:
Bicycles cannot be left in apartments and you may NOT chain your bikes to the railings, or by the stairwells. They must be in a bike rack. On your contract it states that we can remove the item and to get it back you must pay $20.00.
Call managers to reserve the lounge or grills. If you use the lounge YOU are responsible to clean any mess you make and rearrange furniture. DO NOT move, lean or sit on the pool table. It is leveled now and we want to keep it that way. No food or drink is allowed on the pool table or the Ping Pong Table. Please be respectful of our equipment. We will not allow use of these things if they cannot be taken care of.
We are going to be hiring 2 Manager assistants. Responsibilities are locking and unlocking the lounge, and some cleaning in the clubhouse, grounds and delivering things to apartments. If you are interested, please email us with a resume, and we will get back to you.
We are also looking for young men to help out our Maintenance man on different occasions. Pay will be determined by what job you are helping with and there are no set hours. We will simply call when we need help and see if you are available. If you are interested, please sign up with a manager during office hours.
